Trinity fight back to hold Ananda at Asgiriya

Trinity were struggling on 88 for 7 after being set a target of 212 in 37 overs in their drawn match against Ananda at the Asgiriya Stadium.

After being 82 for 4 overnight, Trinity’s middle and late order caved in, losing six wickets for 36 runs. Skipper Dinesh Chandimal then went on the rampage, smashing 91 (4x8, 6x2) in 107 balls as the Anandians forced the pace.

In hindsight, Ananda could have declared earlier as, barring Gangoda and Wickrema, the other batsmen offered resistance.

Bad light stopped play with eight overs left.
