Teacher with book bomb nabbed

A book bomb designed to detonate the moment the ‘book’ was opened was found in the possession of a teacher in Bandarawela last night, police said.

The teacher who was taken into custody had been teaching at a school in Bandarawela for 20 years, Police Spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekara said.

The teacher was arrested following a tip-off received by the Bandarawela police, he added. A hole had been cut in the pages of a large book and it had been filled with explosives, he said. The suspect is originally from Jaffna.
