Kandy drub Galle 114-nil

In a mismatch of tremendous proportions, eight times league champions Kandy SC opened their Clifford Cup campaign strolling to a 114 (12 goals, 6 tries) to nil win over lowly Galle RFC at Nittawela yesterday.

No one expected the Southerners to come close to beating the hill-country side. All the same the margin of defeat was shattering.

Sanjeeva Jayasinghe, Sameera Silva, Radhika Hettiarachchi, Pradeep Liyanage, Dhanushka Pushpakumara, Fazil Marija, Imran Bistamin, Sumedha Jayasinghe, Saliya Kumara, Sean Wanigasekera andskipper Sean Wijesinghe all crossed over the Galle line.

Saliya Kumara, Radhika Hettiarachchi and Sanjeeva Jayasinghe were responsible for twelve conversions.
At half time, the winners led 59-0.
