The Young Entrepreneurs Sri Lanka (YESL) is hosting the Global Entrepreneurship Week in November 2008. The organization said in a statement that the week will start with the local, annual National Young Entrepreneurs Award Ceremony where it is “hoping to partner with many business organizations and foundations for funding and also gaining their active participation in giving out the best for the young crowd that would participate in the Global Entrepreneurship Week in Sri Lanka.”

Countries all around the world are joining together to carry the banner of Global Entrepreneurship Week, an initiative aimed at young people everywhere. During the week of November 17 - 23, 2008, partner organizations will conduct a range of activities - from simple speeches to comprehensive competitions - designed to inspire, connect, inform, mentor and engage the next generation of entrepreneurs, the statement said.

For one week, millions of young people around the world will join a growing movement of entrepreneurial people to generate new ideas and to seek better ways of doing things. Dozens of countries are coming together for the first time to host Global Entrepreneurship Week, an initiative to inspire young people to embrace innovation, imagination and creativity. YESL was launched in 1998 in nine schools with 1600 children and now has expanded to urban and mostly rural areas..
