Funday Times- Poem for the week

A blind suffering child am I
By Wihanga Premaratne, (13+ years). Mahamaya Girls' College, Kandy

You say the mountains are as high as the sky,
The flowers bloom and the birds do fly.
The wonders of the world you explain to me,
But I cannot understand what you mean by 'see.'

What can be so pretty when everything's black?
I sigh in grief with the knowledge I lack.
Is it that I have no fortune to be what you are?
Why does everything seem so far?

My life has no start and no end,
It's just a path that is always a bend.
I cannot see I say with a sigh,
For a blind suffering child am I.
