Director of 'Athbutha Laampuwa', 'Threewheel Malli' and 'Hit Wicket', Chandana entered teledrama directing 'Hirubata Tharuwa' a telefilm for Swarnavahini. Later he wrote screenplay and directed two one episode dramas 'Rankiri Kata' and Sellang Thuwakkuwa' and directed and wrote screenplays for a number of other serial teledramas.

Among the awards and acclaims received, the young director was adjudged the Best Scriptwriter at the script writing competition organised by Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation in 1995. The screenplay written for "www.com" won the Best Screenplay at Sumathi Tele Award-2004 and his film script 'Heta Dawasa" was approved by the Film Production Fund by the National Film Corporation.
