Tharaka goes solo

Tharaka Karunanayake, young and up coming singer in the local music scene and a member of popular 'Sixth Lane' band has released his maiden CD with two of his songs ‘Nil Tharu’ and ‘Daasiya’ recently.

Both ‘Nil Tharu’ and ‘Daasiya’ are love songs of dance and hip hop style and now play on air by Y FM "The music for the songs were composed and arranged by Eranga Jayawardena and Udara Dandeniya.

‘The lyrics for my songs were penned by popular lyricists Kelun Srimal and I'm extremely thankful to him for his assistance. Because he helped me to walk on my dream to achieve what I always wanted to do’ Tharaka said.

Tharaka is no stranger to the music scene. He is a front line member of the youth Being their main vocalist, Tharaka said he has no intention of leaving the band but wants to make a name as a solo singer.

'That is my main ambition in life. I am determined achieve my ambition, even if it takes several years' he said 'Being a solo artiste in the Sri Lankan music scene is a big challenge but I'm prepared to accept the challenge and prove myself.

Also I intend releasing an album with fourteen songs and I am working on it now' he added. Tharaka Karunanayake is an old boy of D. S. Senanayake Maha Vidyalaya, Colombo 8 and he holds a BSc Special honours degree in IT.
