‘Visirinu Renu’ shows the worlds of six women

‘Visirunu Renu’ , a teledrama narrates the lives of six women, and is telecast on every Friday at 7.30 pm on Derana. This drama on an unusual theme is another direction by Sriyani Amarasena. A co-production with Ranjith Premaratne and Kithsiri Abeysinghe, it stars Nita Fernando, Clarice de Silva, Thissa Wijesurendra, Nilmini Tennakoon, Ajith Lokuge, Semini Iddamalgoda, Kusum Renu, Susantha Chandramalee, Niluka Rekani, Ranjith Gamini Perera, Arjuna Kamalanath, Sonia Disa, Chinthaka Prasanga Kulatunga, Dilani Madurasinghe, Ruwan Wickremasinghe, Ananda Athukorala, Buddika Rambukwella, Buddhika Lokuketiya, Manel Wanaguru and Amisha Kavindhi.

'Visirunu Renu' depicts the stories of six women who had sacrificed their youth struggling with the problems they faced in their family and social lives. In order to overcome their loneliness and solitude they form a society and start to live in one house. Different in their social outlook, the six women are matured and well experienced on life.

Dorothy Nugawela is from the well-to-do high class background and she is divorced from her husband, Douglas. Irene, who was deceived by her lover started hating all men and she has remained unmarried. Irene is one of the school friends of Dorothy.

Likewise young Greta, Eugene and Padmini who had undergone different difficulties in their lives have joined Dorothy in search of solace. And Sujatha Nungamuwa joins them with her paralyzed husband Bandara.

Their lives under one roof is filled with joy and happiness yet at times with their own jealousies they come across with different problems and difficulties. However despite their individual differences, they strive to live in harmony and finally they realize that life can only be lived to its fullness by being selfless.

Screenplay written by Rathnapala Wijesinghe and Pushpakumara Ellawela, camera is handled by Saman Sigera, and art direction is U. K. Mahinda. Make up is handled by Sam Perera and edited by Jagath Weeratunga. To the lyrics of Preethi Randeniya and music of Sarath Wickrema, veteran singer Latha Walpola along with Damayanthi Jayasuriya rendered their scintillating voices for the background songs.
