Milan tops five thousand mark!

Bata-The Sunday Times Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Contests

In a sudden rush of adrenaline, Thomian Milan Fernando broke off his shackles and surged ahead to become the first contestant to top the 5000 vote mark at the end of the seventh count of the Bata-The Sunday Times Allisland Schoolboy Cricketer of the Contest.

This week Fernando who pocketed a cool 2001 to his credit ended up with a huge margin of 899 votes ahead of his closest rival Haroon Mawjood who also raked in a healthy 1459 votes against his name to finish with 4366 votes. Naweed Ghany also of S.Thomas’ is still at third place, but it seems that he has taken a step back and is 1516 votes behind Mawjood.

Among the rest, last man Naveen Kavikara has promoted himself to number nine at the expense of Nalandian Madhawa Warnapura who has skipped from eighth to tenth place.

In the Outstation Contest Palian Ishan Thilina Athureliya once again has jumped into the lead at the end of the seventh count ousting Tissa MMV’s Dinesh Chathuranga who is slowly running out of steam.

Finally in the International segment Aadhil Bakeer Markar is holding on his first place for yet another count and has now received 1890 votes against the 1349 votes received by Malith Silva of Gateway International.
