Post-mortem delay adds to the woes of family members

Angry family members of Friday’s bus bomb victims yesterday accused hospital and judicial authorities of being insensitive to their predicament as they waited for 15 hours to get the bodies released.

Some were seen having heated arguments with hospital authorities who insisted that bodies could be released only after a magistrate performed the inquiry.

“Most of us have been waiting near the morgue from Friday night. Priority should be given to post-mortems on the deaths of bomb blast victims,” said one family member of a victim.

The bodies were released to the family members after the post-mortems were conducted by Additional Magistrate Rasa Ranasinghe yesterday afternoon at the Kalubowila hospital.
