Changes in two categories

Thomian allrounder Ghany has made a huge impact in the All Island Contest

There are two changes at the top in two categories at the end of the 5th count of the Bata-The Sunday Times Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year Contests.

The first change has come in the Outstation category where R.A. Dinesh Chathuranga of Tissa MMV, fighting back to wade off a challenge by Ishan Thilina Athureliya of Dharmapala to take back the first place.

The second change at the top comes in the International schools category where Asian International School cricketer Aadhil Bakeer Markar ousting Gateway International’s Malith Silva who occupied the first position during the last four counts.

However the biggest impact in the entire contest was made by the Thomian allrounder Naveed Ghany in the All Island category who just sailed into the fourth position with a huge haul of 624 votes in his first attempt at the crown it self.

However he still long way off from the two leaders -- his schoolmate Milan Fernando who is in the first place with 2406 votes and Haroon Mawjood of Royal who has 2277 votes. Besides the two leaders Mawjood and Fernando the Sri Lanka under national skipper, S.M. Ashan Priyanjana of Nalanda College is also still ahead of Ghany with 689 votes to his credit.
