The Royal College Group of '93 has launched an initiative to make Royal College, the first Wi-Fi enabled public school in Sri Lanka.

The Wi-Fi enabled learning environment is expected to promote enthusiasm amongst students to follow new methodologies in learning beyond the existing physical boundaries, and amongst teaching staff to adopt new teaching and communication techniques, said Principal Upali Gunasekara.

The Principal was speaking at a ceremony at the College Conference Hall recently, where the Royal College Group of '93 formally handed over its Letter of Intent on the Wi-Fi project to Mr. Gunasekara. Royal College Union Secretary Rizan Nazeer, Senior Officials Athula Munasinghe and Upul Jinadasa, and members of the Group of '93 committee took part in the ceremony.

Group of '93 President Boshan Dayaratne stressed that the Wi-Fi project will shortly be extended to cover the RCU Skills Development Centre.

The proposed Wi-Fi system will include system configuration to allow only suitable content for children on the Internet.
