Axe on errant butchers

The amendment to the Butchers Ordinance will be taken up for debate next week to prohibit the slaughtering of pregnant and lactating cows.

Those found guilty of committing an offence under the amended ordinance will be punishable with a fine of up to Rs. 50,000 or with imprisonment of up to three years.
