Tight security cordon for schools
Government has imposed a ban on the public attending school functions with immediate effect, Education Ministry Secretary M.M.N.D. Bandara declared yesterday. The move came as part of a series of additional security measures put in place in view of the current turmoil.
 
Sripathi killed in shattering car crash

Gampaha district parliamentarian and SLFP (Mahajana) wing National coordinator Sripathi Sooriyaarachchi and three others were killed and two critically injured when his official vehicle, crashed into a tree yesterday afternoon at Medagama in the Anuradhapura district.
