Dental programme

The Dental Public Health Unit of the Dental Institute, Maharagama and the Dental Therapists Training School, Maharagama are jointly organizing a programme for pre-school children, teachers and parents to commemorate National Oral Health Day which falls on October 31 and also Oral Health Month, which is November.

Both institutes are actively involved in the dental care of children while the Dental Public Health Unit also conducts an active oral health programme for pregnant mothers to educate them on their own and their babies' oral health. Mobile programmes are conducted routinely in pre-schools, schools, orphanages and among other underprivileged communities.


Societies of Cambridge and Oxford hold debate

An Oxford Union style debate will be staged by the combined Societies of Cambridge and Oxford on Monday, October 29 at 7 p.m. at the British Council. Entrance is free and all are welcome.

The theme will be, "This House believes that all important Cabinet decisions should be based on Astrology". Speakers for the Proposition will be Dominick Chilcott, British High Commissioner (Oxford), K. Guruparan, Law Faculty, University of Colombo, Daniel Alphonsus, pupil of The Study and the summing up will be by Anuradha Perera (Cambridge).

Speakers for the Opposition will be Vijaya Malalasekera (Cambridge), Anisha Yasaratne, Law Faculty, University of Colombo, Hamza Galely, pupil of The Study and the summing up by Ravana Wijeratne (Oxford).
