Imbulana to be feted
A felicitation ceremony by supporters of former UNP stalwart P.C. Imbulana under the patronage of Speaker W.J.M. Lokubandara will be held at the auditorium of Kingland hotel in Anguruwella today.
Mr. Imbulana began his political career as Village Committee chairman of Ruwanwella and later represented the Ruwanwella seat in Parliament from July 1960 onwards.
He served as Deputy Minister of Agriculture under Prime Minister Dudley Senanayake, as Deputy Minister of Local Government, Housing and Construction under President J. R. Jayewardene and Labour Minister under President R. Premadasa. He also served as Governor of the Sabaragamuwa Province and Governor of the Central Province until his retirement from politics in 1994 - after a period of almost sixty years of public life.
