Two men killed and dumped in Dompe

Two male bodies had been discovered in Dompe, police said.

They said some villagers who had spotted the bodies lying by the wayside close to Pauruwila in Dompe around 4.30 in the morning yesterday, had informed the police. Dompe inspector Dharmasiri Nishantha said both men appeared to be below 35 years of age and they had been killed elsewhere and dumped in Dompe.

One man was clad in a pair of shorts while the other in a pair of trousers. Their faces were partly burnt but identifiable, he said. The bodies were taken to Ragama hospital for the purpose of conducting post mortems. Meanwhile, a former employee of the Centre for Policy Alternatives (CPA) who had been abducted on Friday at Kinsey road, Colombo, had been set free unharmed by his abductor in Badulla.

Pakianathan Vijayakanthan who had edited a monthly journal at the CPA had managed to contact his wife after his release and had later lodged a complaint with the police.
