Sri Lankan steals the show at Middle East Athletics

12 Year old Nimath Ibrahim was the only Sri Lankan selected to represent the whole of United Arab Emirates school at the 5th Annual Sabis Regional Tournament held in Doha, Qatar in 2005.

He ran in the under 12, 60 metres sprint and won the Gold. He also won the gold medal for 4 x 100 metres relay by establishing a new record. In 2007 at the 7th Annual Sabis regional Tournament held in Amman, Jordan. This 14 year old running the under 16 100 metres sprint won a silver medal. However he once again won the gold medal in the 4x100 metres relay and the youngest participant. At present he is been coached by a Romanian instructor. Incidentally he is an old boy of Royal College Colombo.
