Nawaloka invests Rs 120 million on heart centre

Nawaloka Hospitals recently introduced the latest, state of the art equipment at its heart centre -- a Allura Xper FD10 flat panel cardiac catheterization laboratory with electro physiology facilities.

This has been purchased from Philips, the world leader in the field of cardiology for delivering unmatched patient care for cardiac, vascular and interventional procedures, at a cost of Rs 120 million, the hospital firm said.

According to Director / General Manager Nawaloka Hospitals, Professor Lal Chandrasena, this unique system is designed to improve efficiency, enhance safety and optimize the workflow of both patients and staff. “It’s advanced imaging, processing and quantification tools help cardiologists to observe more details from multiple views and have a deeper understanding of the patients particular complaint, which results in better diagnosis, treatment, planning and intervention”. The spectrum of Cardiac surgery performed at the Nawaloka Heart Centre is wide ranging, from complex congenital heart defects of babies a few days old, to acquired heart diseases of persons as old as 83 years. Over the years the hospital has performed over 12,000 Angiograms and nearly 7000 Open Heart Surgeries.

The company said that amongst future plans for the Nawaloka Hospital is the acquisition of the first 64 slice/0.4 second CT scanner with facilities for cardiac 3D imaging.
