Six luxury passenger vessels call at Colombo Port

The Colombo Port set a record during the tourist season receiving six luxury passenger vessels within 48-hours.
A Port statement said this was the first ever instance of six luxury vessels arriving with a large number of passengers from the UK, US, Germany and France. The ships that arrived were Ocean Oddyssey, Amadia, Astot, Maxim Gorky, Sagarose and Silver Shadow.

The luxury Silver Shadow arrived with 800 passengers and crew on board, from Phuket in Thailand. To mark the ship’s maiden call at the port, a plaque exchange was also held on board between the Additional Managing Director of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA), Capt. Nihal Keppetipola and the Ship’s Captain Emanuele Chiesa.

Harbour Master of SLPA, Capt. Ravi Jayawickrama, the Managing Director of the ship’s local agents, Barwi Meridian Navigation Ltd; Majeed Awn were also present on this occasion.
