DHL sponsors racing driver Dinesh Jayewardene

DHL, the world’s leading express and logistics company recently renewed its sponsorship with Sri Lanka’s star racing driver Dinesh Jayawardana for the third consecutive year.

In a statement, DHL said its partnership with Sri Lanka’s fastest driver, Dinesh Jayawardana among the standard car categories, complements each other, with both sharing the same values: “Speed and Reliability.”

Jayawardana will henceforth be engaged in the promotional and advertising campaign for DHL during the year under agreement from April 2007 to March 2008 covering 12 calendar months, it said.

Country Manager DHL Express in Sri Lanka, Martin Dudek said he was confident this sponsorship will be mutually beneficial. With this sponsorship, DHL further strengthens its overall commitment to fostering sporting talent both in Sri Lanka and around the world.

Dinesh Jayawardana, 33, is a dynamic and exceptionally talented racing driver who is set to be Sri Lanka’s next Formula Ford Champion. Introduced to the world of motor sports at the age of nine by his father Mana Jayawardana, he has excelled in motor sports ever since. Jayawardana is also one of the main championship contenders in the Formula Ford 1600cc. He currently runs a SLGT, better known as Super Cars 3500cc Series.

Leading the SLADA championship with a total of 40 points, he also has two Fox Hill events to his credit with his new car, the SLGT-Super Car. Jayawardana is currently a director at Auto Force (Pvt) Ltd.
