French business delegation in Colombo

The annual regional meeting of the French Economic Counsellors from the SAARC region (India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka) in Colombo led to a French business delegation also visiting the island, the French embassy here said in a statement.

The Sri Lanka-France Business Council (SLFBC) and Ceylon Chamber of Commerce initiated a round-table discussion with the visiting delegation of French businessmen and the trade advisors, followed up by a meeting with Minister of Entreprise Development and Investment Promotion Dr Sarath Amunugama and the Chairman of the Board of Investment Dhammika Perera. The delegation was briefed on the investment and business possibilities available in Sri Lanka. The Association of Franco-Ceylonese Technologists (AFCT) conducted a seminar on “Dam Safety & Reservoir Conservation for Sustainable Management of Existing Water Resources” in the presence of Minister of Agriculture Development and Agrarian Services Maithripala Sirisena and French Ambassador Michel Lummaux.

The French delegation participating at this major event included: M. Philippe Baudry – Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Treasury and Economic Policy General Directorate of the French Ministry of Finance, M. Jean Leviol - Head of Economic Missions in South Asia along with his colleagues based in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, M. Patrick Imbert - General Secretary of UbiFrance (French Agency for International Business Development), M. Roger Goudiard - Director Asia of the French Development Agency and M. Marc Philippe - President of the French Trade Advisors Council in India and Head of the business delegation including 13 French businessmen representing a wide variety of sectors such as energy and environment, heathcare, shipping, railway and textiles.
