‘Peramaga Salakunu’; a voice to women

Nalin Mapitigama's latest tele production, 'Peramaga Salakunu' a series of one episodic teledaramas highlighting the various hardships faced by women in daily life is telecast every Thursday at 9. 30 pm on Rupavahini channel.

The series based on a set of articles titled 'Rathu Eliya' written to a supplement issued by 'Lakbima' newspaper will depict different stories on the theme relating to women. The miniplay series, a collection of the thirteen stories titled 'Peramaga Salakunu' has separate titles for each episode. Each episode will be titled with the name of the main character.

The titles and the cast are 'Chutti' (Sanjeewani Perera, Nalin Pradeep Uduwela), 'Amanga' (Umayangana Wickremasinghe and Athula Pathirana), 'Kalpana' (Piyumi Botheju, Buddhika Indurugolla), Mayuri (Nuwangi Liyanage and Lalith Jayakantha), 'Sewwandhi, (Nilushi Halpita and Priyantha Lalith), 'Arundathi (Prashani Perera and Ruwan Wickremasinghe), Anuththara (Himali Sayurangi and Gihan Fernando), 'Sanjani' (Anuruddhika Padukkage and Sagara Senaratne), 'Uthpala' (Himali Siriwardena and Sagara Senaratne), 'Indeewari' (Danushka Jayaratne and Chinthaka Kulatunge), 'Waruni' (Dilani Nikahetiya and Suresh Gamage), 'Jinadari' (Tharushi Perera and Udeni Alwis) and 'Champika' (Oshadhi Hewamaddumage and Prasannajith Abeysuriya).

"The objectives of the stories are to bring the attention to the innate qualities of women like innocence, patience, gentleness and affection`," says director Mapitigama.

Musical scores are written by Gayan Ganakadhari, Samantha Perera and Kapila Meddagoda. Edited by Janaka Kekirideniya and lighting by Mangala Samarawickrema.

Vajira Perera, Nohthilal Hissella, Vikum Basnayake and Deepal Jayasinghe and Manoj Hiripitiya handled camera for the stories. The teledrama series is presented by Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation. (SRF)
