Star in a minute

'Star in a minute' an innovative programme organised and presented by Derana seeks to boost the talents of children aged 4 to 13 years.

Introducing new trends to the Sri Lankan television culture, the competition will feature singing and dancing. Divided in to three age groups 4-6 years, 7 to 9 years and 10-13 years the competition got a wonderful response with nearly 10,000 applications. Representing all the provinces the first round contests will be held in Colombo, Kandy and Galle as its main centres.

Thousand for the second round, 200 for the third and 50 for the fourth round will be selected until 18 will be remain for the final round. Six out of 8 children who give the best performances in a minute will be selected and will compete the final round which is to be held with a grand ceremony at Sugathadasa Stadium in September.

Valuable gifts will be awarded and the main aim of the programme is to improve the talents of the children of this country.
