The Legends comes tonight

'Tribute to the Legends', a night bringing back memories of the legends of Sinhala pop music will take place tonight, April 29, 2007 at 7 pm at the BMICH.

The songs of the legends of yesteryear, the nightingale of Sri Lanka, Rukmani Devi, heart warming, C. T. Fernando, mesmerizing M. S. Fernando, melodious Milton Mallawarachchi with the Father of Sri Lankan 'Baila' Wally Bastian will be brought back to their much loved audience.

The unforgettable melodies that has won the hearts of Sri Lankans over the decades will be featured by Mariazelle Gunathilake, Sunil Perera, Susil Fernando, Priyantha Fernando, Ranil Mallawarachchi and Keerthi Pasquel.

The fabulous 'Gypsies' will back the show which Vijaya Corea will compere."Indeed they are legends of the history of Sri Lankan music. Even today when we get together the songs that are coming to our minds are 'Galkisse Muduwerale' or 'Yaman Bando Wesak Balanda'," says Damayantha Kuruppu music lover and the organizer of DK Promotions.

The show will comprise of nearly thirty songs with each singer singing at least five songs.

Starting from Rukmani's 'Mevila Penevi', 'Malbara Himidiriye' the evening will be coloured with CT's 'Ma Bala Kale', 'Punsanda Hinahenne', 'Parawunu Mal' and M. S.' 'Ashokamalmala', 'Nelummale' and 'Rasa Ahara Kavala'. The Sports Club of Mount Lavinia Hotel presents the show in collaboration with D. K. Promotions. (SRF)
