To commemorate the 2551st Buddha Jayanthi, a number of programs have been organised during the week.

Two ‘Vesak Zones’ (the areas around Gangarama in Colombo 2 and Parliament)’ have been declared in Colombo. Pandals and other Vesak decorations will illuminate the streets.

As part of the plan it has been decided to decorate the old Parliament building, Temple Trees and the stretch of road between Wellawatte and the President’s Office.

The All Ceylon Buddhist Congress will be responsible for decorating Bauddhaloka Mawatha with colourful Vesak lanterns and bulbs. The organisation will also hold dana pinkamas and bana discourses by erudite Buddhist monks.
