‘Priyankara’:Storyof culture and nature

'Wildlife or religious, leisure or family outing Priyankara Hotel in Tissa is capable of handling any visit' said Priyankara Wickramasekera, the MD of Priyanka Hotel.

Located on Tissa-Kataragama road just passing picturesque Tissa Weva, Priyankara Hotel, has 26 well appointed air conditioned rooms to its credit.

The hotel commenced operations in 1970 as a five room guest house and in 1987 the it was converted into a luxury hotel with 24 additional rooms.

'In 1995 we completed with 30 luxury rooms and gained two star plus status. Since then the hotel has been winning many awards' he said.

The latest addition to the hotel is the new swimming Pool, bordering, greenly paddy field.
'The swimming pool, which was a long felt need for the hotel, finally came through after a long struggle and red tape of the authorities' he said.

The hotel serves traditional southern Sri Lankan food with exclusively created continental dishes. 'The well stocked bar with our very own creation of cocktails and friendly barmen will attend all your beverage needs. It has a good selection of international wines will add flavour to your stay' Priyanakara said.

The hotel also organizes bird watching and willife excursions to Yala, Kirinda, Bundala, Uda Walave and many other areas. The Ruhunu National Park at Yala, which is preserved and protected and is one of the best game sanctuaries in Sri Lanka is a thirty minutes drive from the hotel.

'The rituals practiced could be observed at Kataragama on any day of the year and the festival is in the month of July'.
