Security to be tightened around
parliament
A high level security meeting convened at Parliament on Friday decided that security should be tightened in and around the complex following the LTTE air attack at Katunayaka.
The meeting was presided over by Speaker W.J.M.Lokubandara, with representatives of the armed forces and Police attending.
Opposition leader Ranil Wickemesinghe had called for Parliament to be summoned soon after the attack to discuss the security situation in the country, but the Government had dismissed this request. However, Parliament will meet this week to debate the emergency and the air attack is likely to figure prominently.
