Alpha Orient Lanka recognizes ‘hero’ employees

Alpha Orient Lanka has launched Alpha Heroes Awards – Sri Lanka, aimed at rewarding, recognizing and publicizing exemplarily outstanding employees of Alpha Orient Lanka.

“Through the Alpha Heroes Awards we intend to motivate employees who have best served the company during the past year. We believe that when their achievements are highlighted other employees will look up to them as role models and strive to reach higher standards.

The employees who are recognized and rewarded at the Alpha Heroes Awards will be an inspiration to the rest.

It is also note worthy that over Rs 5 million is to be awarded as cash rewards to our outstanding employees of the company,” Managing Director of Alpha Asia, Paul Topping told reporters.

The awards ceremony was held on September 16. Alpha group purchased Orient Lanka Limited from the Sri Lankan government in 1996 and was named Alpha Orient Lanka. Since then it remains part of the Alpha Group which has a rich tradition and history of over 50 years.

The Alpha Group has over 150 outlets in 5 continents across the globe. Alpha Orient Lanka currently plans to set up its Plantation Cafe at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) departure terminal.

This novel outlet will boast of Sri Lankan culture, tradition and history while providing an opportunity for many NGOs and charity based organizations to gain exposure. It will also consist of a museum style shopping area which will contain educational items, arts, crafts, books and Ceylon tea.

The company’s refurbished departures’ shop too, was officially declared open by the Chairman of the Airport and Aviation Services Limited (AASL), Tiran Alles last week.
