Vishwanthari, thirteen miniplays based on short stories written by world famous writers is telecast every Wednesday at 8.30 pm on Rupavahini.

Directed by Santhush Liyanage and based on short stories written by Oscar Wilde, Anton Chekhov, Emiliyan Stanis, R. K. Natayan, John Rights, H. H. Munro and O. Henry is a novel experience for the TV audience who are fed up with the hackneyed theme of middle class family strife.

Rich in educational value, Vishwanthari is an exposure to the world of literature.

The screenplays are written by a team of experienced and talented writers including Bandula Vithanage, Lucian Bulathsinghala, Neville Dias Subasinghe, Rohana Dandeniya, Priyankara Ratnayake and Rasika Suraweeraarachchi.

'Anthima Pathraya' ; music directed by Karunaratne Wijewardena is played by Nita Fernando, W. Jayasiri and Bandula Vithanage. 'Thanayama'; scripted by Priyankara Ratnayake stars Lucian Bulathsinghala, Nilmini Tennekoon and Priyankara Ratnayake. Background music is by Nadeeka Guruge. 'Ashirwadaya '; screenplay written by Neville Dias Subasinghe is played by Sarath Kothalawela, Priyanka Samaraweera, Chandra Kaluarachchi and Somasiri Alakolanga. Karunaratne Wijeywardhana directed the music. 'Nidana Kamaraya', stars Dhananjaya Karunaratne, Sujani Menaka and Luxman Fernando. Screenplay is written by Rohana Dandeniya. Musical score by Sujith Gamage. 'Gelkaru'; screenplay written by Rasika Suraweerarachchi stars Sarath Kothalawela, Chamila Peiris and Richard Manamudali. Gayan Ganakadhara has written the musical score.

'Puduma Higanna'; screenplay written by Lucian Bulathsinghala is played by Bimal Jayakody, Athula Pathirana and Lucian Bulathsinghala himself. M. R. Chulasinghe directed the music. 'Rassige Awwa' , a screenplay of Bandula Vithanage is played by W. Jayasiri, Prageeth Ratnayake and Bandula Vithanage himself. Karunaratne Wijeywardena is responsible for the musical score.

In the technical crew Ashoka Jayasekara, Rohana Samaraweera, Deepthi de Silva and Udayamithra Manamperi handled the camera.

Art directors are Chithrasena de Silva, Lionel Saparamadu and T. W. Harishchandra. Chaminda Hewasinghe, Ranjith Thilakasiri and Udaya Wijethunge are the makeup artistes.
