JKCS delivers Sri Lanka’s largest airline IT project

Aviation software specialist JKCS, recently delivered the largest airline IT system ever built by a Sri Lankan software company, named “Accel-aero”, the application facilitates all ticket sales and revenue management operations compatible with any airline systems.

Air Arabia of UAE, was the first customer to purchase the system. Accel-aero supports flight scheduling, inventory management, sales channel management and financial management.

Air Arabia announced the implementation a success when Accel-aero went live on schedule and on budget at the airline’s headquarters in Sharjah.

The formal event was attended by Adel Ali, CEO of Air Arabia, and Sujiva Dewaraja, Head of IT sector at John Keells Holdings, a JKHS statement said.

Speaking at the launch, CEO of JKCS, Dhananjaya Chandrasekera said, “We are delighted that the first implementation of Accel-aero went so smoothly.

Accel-aero has the flexibility and functionality to help meet the ongoing needs of growing airlines as well as the demands of passengers. We are confident we have the capacity to deliver the support that will help an airline grow their business, worldwide.”

Accel-aero’s is now used to book e-tickets on Air Arabia’s website.

Apart from Internet sales, the system supports Air Arabia’s call centres and travel agencies around the world. It is fitted with intelligent components that automatically optimise sales revenue.

The reservation system is one of the most time and mission-critical elements of an airline and any downtime comes at a tremendous cost. Accel-aero uses state-of-the-art architecture and contemporary technologies to ensure that the whole system is completely robust and fail safe.

The entire system was developed in accordance with CMM standards – the global benchmark for software quality.

Milinda Gunasena, Accel-aero’s Manager Projects Delivery said, “This entire application is Web-centric to provide easy access to staff, passengers and partners worldwide. Accel-aero’s design, based on tiered architecture together with its clustered implementation environment, will avoid any single point of failure.

Accel-aero can be easily extended to accommodate future requirements thanks to its modularized framework.” Accel-aero will be made available to other airlines that are already operational or just entering the market. The reservation solution is particularly beneficial to Low Cost Carriers that rely on direct sales and require highly flexible price management systems.
