Sudath Senaratne's miniplay 'Siri Dev Bawana' depicting harmony in village life compared to complex and confused urban living is telecast every Friday at 7.30 pm on Rupavahini . Wasantha, a youth from an agricultural background in Rajarata is qualified to enter university. His father commits suicide as he finds it difficult to settle his debts taken for cultivation. His brother Ajith seeks vengeance from the businessman Upali who he thinks is the cause of his father's untimely death. Upali's sister Mangalika is a music student . She empathizes with Wasantha in his grief. This sympathy later turns to love and she helps him financially.

Wasantha finds lodgings in a tiny room in the city. The young undergraduate who has a gift for words and is capable of writing well joins the world of media and mass communication. Here he meets with a young woman Shiromi who is city bred. If Mangalika is the epitome of a village damsel then Shiromi is one of the city.

Now Mangalika comes to the city. Meanwhile a close relationship has developed between Shiromi and Wasantha.
Wasantha's friend Padmalatha goes as a shop assistant to Upali's shop. She fosters a friendship with Upali. Mangalika suspects that Wasanthat has changed and this is proved when he is caught having a relationship with Shiromi. With shattered dreams Mangalika goes home. Upali is now married to Padmalatha and Mangalika finds it difficult to stay at home. The conflict between two sisters-in-law develops.

When Wasantha realizes that Shiromi is married he tries to leave her. As a result he is assaulted and hospitalized. Mangalika leaves home and comes to the city once more. She gets to know about Wasantha. Although she visits him she doesn't renew her friendship with Wasantha. Realising his mistake Wasantha seeks friendship with Managalika once more.

In the meantime Ajith who is mentally unsettled due to his father's death seek consolation in drinks and hunting. He has not forgotten his grudge against Upali. Mangalika returns to the village once more. Wasantha too returns home for convalescence. He tries to seek his brother who is away from home. Seeking his brother in the jungle Wasantha gets shot. Mangalika gets married and Wasantha while retuning from the hospital sees her.

The story revolves around Wasantha who doesn't realize the beauty and values of life. He not only loses his soul when he loses Mangalika but also loses the potential of experiencing the unspoiled beauty of village life.

Kanchana Mendis, Janak Premalal, Vishaka Siriwardena, Priyantha Wijekoon, Menike Attanayake, Sandeepa Sewmini, Sarath Namalgama, Nalin Pradeep and Samanthi Lanerolle are in the stellar cast.
