Family Fun

It was a day of fun and joy. Children, being free from limitations and restrictions, had a memorable day at Sri Bodhi playground in Gampaha. The green ground had turned into a playground full of muddy activities. To crawl in the mud, to run into mud, to play in the mud were things they could not experience in daily life. But finally, "Surf X Sellam Family Fun" organized by Unilever Limited, made way to it.

Renuka Damayanthi, a mother of two sons, had come there with her family to enjoy a day in mud. She said that these kinds of games are very good for children to improve their talents. "It's not necessary to participate in games. Watching others play too is important for character building," she said.

Suresh Lalantha is a thirteen-year-old boy who studies in Wegauwa Vidyalaya. After winning one game and queuing for another, his whole body covered in mud, he said that he is enjoying it a lot and happy too. "This is really fun. I came with my parents," he said in a hurry, taking part in the next game.

Kamani Wasantha said this is quite good not only for children, but also for parents as well. "Both my children are enjoying a lot today,” she added.

People swarmed over the ground, taking part in games. Ramani Somasundara, Marketing Manager, Unilever said their main purpose was to make the child accept defeat as well as the victory. "Dirt can get washed away but not the experience," she added.

"We have taken care of the safety of these children too, from drinking water to informing the nearest hospital," said Rohith Annaswatta, Senior Brand Activation Manager, Unilever.

This fun day gave the idea to parents on how much children learn through experience.
