The case filed against popular English tutor 'Sakvithi Ranasinghe' for operating a financial institution without the permission of the Central Bank has been fixed for October 23 by the Colombo High Court.
The order was issued by High Court Judge Shashi Mahendran yesterday (Jun 18).
During yesterday's hearing Sakvithi appeared along with his wife Kumari Anuradhini who has been named as the second accused in the case. They have been accused of operating an illegal financial institution named Sakvithi Housing and Construction (Pvt.) Ltd
Chandana Weerakumara known as Sakvithi Ranasinghe was granted bail over three cases including a million-dollar fraud recently after fulfilling his bail conditions. He had been remanded for nearly a decade.
Accordingly, the High Court Judge also called for a report on the individuals who had been named as sureties while granting bail for the suspect.
