The Colombo High Court today (Feb 11) sentenced a suspect to death over a murder which took place in Kelaniya in 2000.
The suspect - a 57-year old father of three and a resident of Kelaniya, was found guilty of murdering another individual by opening fire during a brawl on January 22, 2000.
Meanwhile, High Court judge Shashi Mahendran accquitted another suspect who was also accused of being involved in the murder.
Hearing of the case commenced after a case was filed by the Attorney General in this regard.
