Former Sri Lanka national cricket skipper Dinesh Chandimal is expected to join the Army as a Commissioned Officer, Army Spokesman Major General Sumith Atapattu said.
Maj. Gen. Atapattu said that Chandimal's request had been accepted by the Defence Ministry and that he is expected to play for the Sri Lanka Army Cricket team.
The Army Spokesman added that the former national captain would have to face an entrance exam in near future.
Accordingly, Chandimal would be enlisted to the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force as a Commissioned Officer.
