Case over Ranjan's defamatory statements on the judiciary to resume from January 28

The Supreme Court has announced that the case involving the comments made by MP Ranjan Ramanayake concerning the judiciary will be heard from January 28 onwards.

Providing of witness statments in the case filed against MP Ranjan Ramanayake for making such defamatory comments before the media, commenced at the Supreme Court today (Dec 10).

Registrar of the Supreme Court, Pradeep Mahamuthugala, said that he had issued summons on MP Ranjan Ramanayake according to court orders.

Furthermore, it was decided that the recording of witness statements from the five journalists who were involved in the television discussion, will take place on January 28, 29, and 30.

The supreme court also ordered that the list of witnesses representing the respondents should be filed on January 14.
