The National Peoples Power (NPP) will hold its May Day rally at commemorations at the Galle Face Green tomorrow. The rally will begin at 3.30 pm. There will be no parade this year.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya will be present at the event.
Meanwhile the Samagi Jana Balawegaya is gearing up to have their May Day celebrations at Thalawakale town at 2.00 pm.
The SJB rally would also be joined by its alliance stakeholders.
The Sri Lanka Podu Jana Peramuna would have their May Day rally at Ananda Samarakoon open air theater at Nugegoda.
According to SLPP General Secretary, Sagara Kariyawasam the Rally themed “Ravatilla iwasuwa athi Dan ithin Nagitimu”, with majority of supporters in Western Province.
He said that Party Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa would not be joining the event, yet the event would be held under the leadership of Namal Rajapaksa
A senior member of UNP said that the party is having internal struggles and therefore they would not be having a May Day event.
SLFP has planned to have their May Day celebration at their party head office at Daly road, former MP Lasantha Alagiyawanna said.

A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
Update: Five of the twelve passengers on board the bell 212 aircraft that crashed into the Maduru Oya today, have succumbed to their injuries, the SLAF said.
