Two Chinese nationals were arrested yesterday (Feb 18) while attempting to capture a species of beetle at the Horton Plains National Park, Warden of the Park P.K.P.N. Pradeep Kumara said.
The arrest was set in motion following a tip-off received regarding the two individuals who were capturing beetles while touring the park.
Mr. Kumara said that statements have already been recorded from both suspects who will be produced before courts in due course.
He added that the Wildlife Department has also recorded a statement from the suspects who were found to have captured 13 beetles.
