The Tax Appeals Commission (TAC) which was inactive has been revived by the Finance Ministry with the reappointment of Justice Hector Yapa as Chairman and Justice Sunil Rajapakse and former auditor general Mr. S Swanajothi.
The commission was set up to solve issues that may rise between the tax payer and the Commissioner General of Inland Revenue or the Director General of Customs due to the imposition of any levy or penalty.
The Ministry of Finance in a press release noted that there are around 264 pending appeals and it is expected that these appeals will be resolved with the revival of the TAC.
