The wife of a pradeshiya sabha member was taken into custody over the possession of illegal firearms and weapons yesterday (Feb 23).
The arrest was carried out by personnel attached to the Special Task Force.
Two firearms, several bullets, a knife, swords and a narcotic drug were among the items seized from the residence of the suspect.
It is reported that the wife was taken into custody since her husband who is a member of the Dehiowita Pradeshiya Sabha was not present at home at the time of the arrest.
Further investigations continue.
