G C E Ordinary Level (O/L) students who have applied for their Digital National Identity Card (NIC)'s, will be issued a temporary certification document due to a shortage in printed cards.
The Department for Registration of Persons said that the certificate would be considered a valid document to confirm the identity of candidates sitting for the O/L exam this year.
A senior official said that the Department is yet to receive around one million cards, after placing an order, and that the cards are expected to reach the Department by November.
The official said that steps would be taken to post the Digital NIC's to the candidates if the order arrives by the first week of November.
