The 70th Anniversary celebrations of Sri Lanka Army was held at the Galle Face Green in Colombo today (Oct 10).
Sri Lanka Army was founded on October 10, 1949 as the 'Ceylon Army' with Brigadier Anton Muthukumaru serving as the first Army Commander of the country.
A military parade was held to mark the special occassion attended by senior military officers including the 23rd Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva.
