Framework and action plan to address sexual and gender-based violence

Cabinet has approved the policy framework and national plan of action to address sexual and gender-based violence presented by Minister of Women and Child Affairs Chandrani Bandara. 

According to the Government, the policy framework and national plan of action was was drafted after consultations with public institutions, international and local non-governmental organizations, community based organizations and representatives of civil organizations. 

The policy framework and action plan were drafted under nine fields, namely child activities, disaster management, education, economic development and employment, foreign employment, empowerment and prevention, health, justice and law reform, and media.
