Colombo High Court sentenced former Deputy Minister Shantha Premaratne four years rigorous imprisonment for guilty of accepting bribe yesterday. The Bribery Commission has initiated legal action against him.
The courts found him guilty of accepting a bribe of Rs. 50,000 from a woman promising to get her a job in the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) in 2007. High Court Judge Piyasena Ranasinghe also ordered him to pay Rs 10,000 as fine.
