Official Languages Minister Mano Ganesan has said that the circular instructing the removal of Arabic street name boards has been issued to the relevant authorities.
Accordingly, he said that these authorities will take swift measures to act upon this circular and remove such name boards which violate the law.
"As a common policy, we can't allow street name boards to be printed in any other language other than English, Sinhala, and Tamil," the Minister said.
However, he noted that permission must be sought in order to print a street name board in any other language.
