The cabinet of ministers has approved a proposal to establish the Vavuniya Campus at the Jaffna University as a fully fledged University.
The Vavuniya Campus, which is under the University of Jaffna at present, offers courses under the Applied Sciences and Business Studies streams.
According to a proposal put forward by the Higher Education Ministry, the establishment of the Vavuniya University is expected to enhance the study curriculum of these streams.
Further, the move is also expected to facilitate in teaching of courses in English, the Higher Education Ministry said.
