An Airbus A380 plane was forced to make an emergency landing at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) today (Feb 08) as a passenger on board flight EY 454 suffered a heart attack.
The plane was bound for Sydney, Australia from Abu Dhabi when it touched down on Sri Lankan soil at around 6:10 am.
The victim of the heart-attack was a 29-year old Romanian national who was handed over to medical staff at the BIA and was immediately transferred to a private hospital in Meegamuwa.
It is reported that the flight was carrying 443 passengers and 21 crew members at the time of the emergency landing.
Meanwhile, it is reported that the passengers were temporarily put up at hotels as a technical issue on the flight was also detected.
