The Yala National Park has been closed until further notice in view of the heavy rains experienced in the area, Warden of the park Manoj Vidyaratne said.
He said the park has been closed on a directive of the Wildlife Department as it was risky to allow vehicles into the park. Some of the tracks are underwater.
He said there were a number of tourists in the surrounding hotels awaiting an opportunity to visit the park, but they will not be allowed into the park until the roads are safe.
