A woman who was forced to drink an excessive quantity of King-coconut water and turmeric water as part of a ritual died due to complications in the Laggala area, Police said.
Water for as many as 21 King-coconuts had been given to her during the ritual peformed by a man aged 26.
The man who peformed the ritual and his wife who helped have been arrested and remanded until June 27.
The ritual had been peformed on the woman claiming that the woman would be able to conceive after the ritual.
The victim was a 48 year old woman.
The suspects were produced before Naula Acting Magistrate Shamali Wijeratna.
The suspects are Rajitha Malinda and Prabodhya Samaraweera .
